Patricia A. Hansen, Ph.D.
Dr. Patricia (Pat) Hansen serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Nutrition and Food Labeling. With FDA since 1991, she has served in a variety of scientific and policy-making roles in the agency’s foods and cosmetics programs. Since joining ONFL in 2015, Dr. Hansen has provided leadership on a wide range of multi-disciplinary efforts in nutrition and food labeling, including labeling of food allergens, alternative protein sources and products of cell culture technology, as well as infant formula and medical foods. Prior to joining FDA, she conducted laboratory research at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and in the private sector at E. I. DuPont deNemours and Co. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. in Chemistry from Columbia University and a B.S., also in Chemistry, from the University of Connecticut.
