Dr. Sawicki is a currently a postdoctoral research fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She works with large, longitudinal datasets to examine dietary quality, especially carbohydrate quality and plant-based diets, in relation to cardiometabolic risk and chronic disease. Additionally, her postdoctoral work has included the utilization of new methodologies such as metabolomics to better understand the complex relationships between diet and health. Caleigh received her Ph.D. in Nutritional Epidemiology from the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University where she worked to understand the role of dietary fiber and whole grain intake as it relates to cardiometabolic risk factors, including measures of adiposity, glucose homeostasis, blood lipids, and blood pressure. She has presented and received recognition for her work internationally, including being selected for the International Cereal Chemist Young Scientist Award for excellence and innovation in whole grain research at the 6th International Whole Grain Summit in Vienna. In addition to her doctorate, Caleigh received her M.S. in Nutrition Epidemiology from the Friedman School and her M.P.H. from Tufts Medical School in 2015.
