My research areas include iron deficiency and its impact on physical and cognitive performance, as well as improving the iron status of populations around the globe using sustainable approaches. As a dietitian and nutrition scientist, I have been focused on how to optimize diets and/or foods for health over the past 15y, and I have much experience in the design, implementation, analysis and interpretation of clinical trials. I bring a strong background in nutrition and dietary assessment methodology, particularly the assessment of iron status using both functional and analytical methods, as I have been studying the iron status of active young women for over 10 years. I have worked with several collaborators in the field on different problems related to the repletion of iron status in young women, and have >50 peer-reviewed publications and presentations in this area.
