Dr. Md Mizanur Rahman obtained his MSc in Clinical Investigation from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) USA and his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences (Microbiology and Immunology) from Saga Medical School Japan with a Fulbright scholarship from Japanese Govt. He served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the UTHSCSA, as an adjunct faculty in the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University, and as a special graduate faculty member at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Dr. Rahman joined the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Qatar University as an Assistant Professor and then was promoted to Associate Professor.
His research focuses on the physiology and pathology of bone and muscle during aging. His research group investigates the impact of calorie restriction, physical exercise, and natural products on healthy aging and lifespan and underlying mechanisms. His group is also working on the effect of natural products in preventing and treating breast and prostate cancers and the development of drug resistance and underlying mechanisms. He published over 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He received several research grants from NIH, DOD, QNRF, and QU.
