Laura is currently in the final year of her doctoral studies in nutritional epidemiology and data science at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. Throughout her academic and professional career, Laura has demonstrated a strong commitment to driving advancements in the fields of nutrition and public health. Her work has encompassed various areas, including research on the early detection of cardiometabolic diseases, harmonization of dietary surveys on a global scale, and defining traditional diets, as well as individual nutritional counseling through clinical work.
Her current research focuses on analyzing the global intake of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) across key population subgroups, quantifying the burden of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease attributable to SSB consumption, as well as examining the cost-effectiveness of different SSB taxes. In addition to this, for the past three years, Laura has served as a teaching assistant for the epidemiology course at the Friedman School, showcasing her dedication to imparting knowledge and supporting the education of future professionals.
Laura's achievements have been recognized through her selection as an awardee of the prestigious pre-doctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association. As she approaches graduation, Laura is eager to join a company that shares her profound passion for generating meaningful outputs that have a positive impact on society, while offering opportunities to further expand her knowledge and refine her skills in the areas of nutrition, data science, and epidemiology.
