Clinical research assistant
Instituto Nacional de Perinatología "Isidro Espinosa de los Reyes", Mexico
I obtained my MSc in May 2022 with honors in the master’s program of Health Sciences in Clinical Epidemiology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, with a competitive grant from the Mexican Government for Science and Technology.
During my master’s degree, I was a research assistant at the Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Network within the Maternal and Child Observatory of the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. In addition, I participated during the process of extraction and quality evaluation for clinical practice guidelines in preconception, pregnancy and postpartum and as result of that, I have published two articles (Ancira Moreno, M. Frontiers in Medicine 2022; Muñoz Manrique C, Nutrients, 2022). This experience was fundamental for me to take the decision to learn more about nutrition during pregnancy and postpartum period. My background in Clinical and Epidemiological Nutrition and experience in observational studies allows me to understand the role of maternal diet during perinatal period as a determining factor not only for maternal health but also for future generations. It has been clear to be that I wanted to improve the implementation of medical-nutritional strategies with the potential to modulate the risks for the maternal-fetal binomial.
In the meantime, I have been awarded of a very ambitious trial that was done at BCNatal Center for Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, in Barcelona, Spain (Crovetto JAMA 2021) and I started to collaborating and be part of this important group of research. During the last months, I had the opportunity to work with the IMPACT BCN study data under the supervision of Dr Crispi, Dr Crovetto and Dr Castro and their team. Since the beginning, it was clear for me that this would represent an incredible opportunity to contribute and enrich current knowledge within this interdisciplinary team of professionals whose priority is maternal-fetal health.
