PhD candidate
University College Cork & Munster Technological University, Ireland
Clíodhna is a PhD student on a joint degree programme between University College Cork and Munster Technological University, based in Cork, Ireland. As part of her PhD Clíodhna was a fieldworker on the National Adults Nutrition Survey II between 2021 and 2023. Clíodhna has completed her studies across the island of Ireland. After graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Food and Nutrition in 2018 from Ulster University, Northern Ireland, she proceeded to complete a Masters in Public Health in University College Dublin. She worked as a research officer in food communication for a semi-state body and developed a passion for making nutrition research understandable and accessible. She has since contributed to several projects at a campus level and national level aimed at improving nutritional knowledge or promoting healthy behaviour changes, most recently contributing to Ireland’s Department of Health SciCommCollective campaign across social media. Clíodhna enjoys combining nutrition and public health and hopes her current research on dietary fibre in teenagers in Ireland will contribute to policy to improve nutrition among this population group.
