Dr. Fiona Malcomson is a Lecturer in Human Nutrition working within the Human Nutrition & Exercise Research Centre, Population Health Sciences Institute, at Newcastle University in the UK. She completed her undergraduate degree in Pharmacology (BSc) at Newcastle University in 2010, followed by a Masters in Research (MRes) in 2011. During her PhD, awarded in 2015, Fiona investigated the effects of a dietary intervention supplementing healthy participants with dietary fiber on markers of colorectal health and of colorectal cancer risk.
Throughout her post-doctoral research, Fiona has continued with investigations into the role of lifestyle factors, particularly diet, physical activity, adiposity and sedentary behaviour, on markers of colorectal cancer risk, and has been a research team member of several human studies. Fiona is currently Co-Investigator on a World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF)-funded project investigating associations between adherence to the WCRF/American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) Cancer Prevention Recommendations and cancer risk and survival in the UK.
