Dr. Calle received her B.S. (Nutrition 2001) at the University of Buenos Aires, College of Medicine, in Argentina; Master of Science (Human Nutrition and Metabolism 2009), Ph.D. (Nutritional Sciences 2011) at the University of Connecticut; and Dietetic Internship at Iowa State University (2014). Certification for Registered Dietitian (2015) from the Academics of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Dr. Calle has been working at WSU since 2012 as Assistant Professor and promoted to Associate Professor in 2018 and full professor in 2023. She was Chair of the Health Sciences Department at WSU for the term 2019- 2022. She teaches undergraduate Public Health required and Health Education electives courses. Such as Research, Practicum in Health, Basic and Advanced Nutrition and Sports Nutrition
Her research area of expertise includes type 2 diabetes, dietary patterns and cardiovascular disease. Her research focus on the effects of modifiable lifestyle factors, such as diet and exercise, on inflammatory markers. Dr. Calle has published several peer-reviewed scientific articles, and has presented her work at international meetings.
