Dr. Pop Oana Lelia is currently associate professor at the Food Science Department of the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Cluj-Napoca. She has more than 10 years’ experience in encapsulation and biotechnology (spray drying, in vitro simulated gastrointestinal passage, microbiology) working with pro and prebiotics and different biopolymers. The intense and ever-growing interest she had regarding active cells as probiotics and their correlation with human prevention and amelioration of degenerative diseases, especially intestinal ones, led her being a promising researcher with good and useful results for the science community. The research activity conducted so far resulted in the publication of over 40 scientific papers published in international journals with ISI impact factor; among which 9 as first author/corresponding, 12 book chapters, with 4 as the first author published at Ed. Academic Press Elsevier, Ed. InTech, Ed. Taylor&Francis. Leader in 4 research projects (1 international and 3 national) Member in over 15 projects and winner of over 30 Gold Medals and Diploma of Excellence at International Salon of Research, Innovation and Invention PRO INVENT. Her current interests are focused on probiotics and fermentation detoxification capacity and increase of nutrients absorption by using probiotics and nanopaticles.
