She has an undergraduate degree from Iowa State University, a PhD in Nutrition Science from Purdue University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in skeletal muscle metabolism from the Division of Rehabilitation Science University of Texas Medical Branch.
Dr. Lantz worked for several years in a group with Dr. Doug Paddon-Jones, PhD. Their work together focused broadly on two main themes: i). the effects of physical inactivity on skeletal muscle mass and functional capacity in middle-aged and older adults and ii). the application and mechanism of action of amino acid and protein consumption on acute markers of anabolism e.g., muscle protein synthesis. She continues to build body of scientific discovery that she and Doug completed together with a special interest in women's skeletomuscle health during the menopause transition and the importance of protein quality and the timing of protein consumption.
