Dr. Ibsen is a nutritional epidemiologist with a strong methodological background in causal inference methods and objective dietary assessment. He is based at the Steno Diabetes Center Aarhus, the Department of Public Health at Aahurs University, the Department of Nutrition, Sports and Exercise at the University of Copenhagen, and the MRC Epidemiology Unit at the University of Cambridge. He develops and investigates new methodologies to understand the role of plant-based diets in obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease development. In 2022 he was awarded the Schroll Prize for Excellent young researchers from the Danish Epidemiological Society. He has broad international experience with collaborations at Lund University and Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, Harvard University in United States and the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico.
