Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Dr. Zhila Semnani-Azad is a Canadian Institutes of Health Research funded research fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her primary interest focuses on the role of obesity and associated lifestyle factors and its impact on cardiometabolic health. Her current work incorporates high-throughput –omics techniques, specifically metabolomics, into traditional epidemiological analyses to gain insights into underlying mechanisms that could explain the associations between obesity and cardiometabolic outcomes, including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, using large cohort studies such as the Nurses’ Health Study, Health Professionals Follow-Up Study, and PREDIMED trial. Additionally, Dr. Semnani-Azad has been investigating the impact of gestational diabetes exposure as it relates to obesity and cardiometabolic outcomes using both US-based and Canadian-based cohorts.
