Andrew Prentice leads the progamme of nutrition research at the MRC Unit The Gambia @ LSHTM, The Gambia. Based mostly in a rural area around Keneba the research covers several key domains of maternal and child nutrition. Andrew's personal interests focus on two areas: the interactions between iron, infection and anaemia, and the effect of parents' peri-conceptional diet and nutritional status on programming the ofspring methylome as it is remodelled in the very early embryo. The ultimate aim of both reserach programmes is to develop next-generation interventions to better the lives of families in resource-poor settings.
