PhD Candidate
University of California, Davis
I am a Registered Dietitian from Long Island, New York. I completed my dietetic internship and Master's degree at the University of Delaware and am now a sixth year PhD Candidate in Nutritional Biology at the University of California Davis (UCD). My research interests are focused on diet and how it relates to health outcomes, primarily cardiovascular disease, through the bioactivity of select phenolics from plant-foods. My Master's thesis investigated the impact of the vegetarian diet on vascular function. Currently, I am researching the impact of phytonutrients, primarily from nuts and berries, on vascular function and cardiovascular disease risk. I am also a research assistant in the flavanol research group and have been involved in teaching a variety of undergraduate nutrition courses at UCD.
