Jennifer Schindler-Ruwisch is currently an Assistant Professor of Public Health at Fairfield University. She completed her DrPH in Health Behavior at The George Washington University where she focused on breastfeeding initiation and duration in the WIC population. Her breastfeeding specific research has focused on breastfeeding barriers, particularly among WIC recipients and African-American women. She hopes to continue this line of breastfeeding work and to highlight external factors and biases that drive inequity. She is passionate about health equity and social/environmental determinants of health. Her interests in nutrition and maternal and child/health have become intertwined in her most recent breastfeeding work.
