I am a nutritionist passionate about the study of iodine nutritional status in the vulnerable stages of neurodevelopment. I am currently studying for a doctorate in chemical-biological sciences at the University of Sonora and conducting a reserch to assess iodine intake true breast milk in infants under 6 months old, that are feed breast milk only.
I graduated in nutrition from the state university of sonora in 2010 and my master's degree in human nutrition sciences from the autonomous university of queretaro in 2017. During my master's degree I had the opportunity to work on the study of the nutritional status of iodine during pregnancy and lactation in an indigenous community in central Mexico, where we found that 40% of mothers during pregnancy were at risk of presenting deficiency of iodine. These findings gave rise to the study in which I am currently working to find out how the nutritional status of mothers and their children is after pregnancy, during the lactation period, which is the period of greatest iodine requirements.
