Postdoctoral Fellow
University of Vermont College of Medicine
Dr. Deena Snoke earned her B.S. in Biology from Keene State College with an emphasis on developmental toxicology research experience. She then pursued her Ph.D. in Nutrition at The Ohio State University under the supervision of Dr. Martha Belury, where her dissertation research focused on the effects of supplementation of lipophilic bioactive dietary components on improving conditions of metabolic dysregulation (cancer cachexia and obesity) in preclinical models. Highlights of Deena's graduate work include 7 publications (one in preparation), 3 of which are first-author works, the reception of 3 predoctoral fellowships and a term as the Predicent of The Graduate Society of Nutritional Sciences at The Ohio State University. Deena's interest in skeletal muscle energetics led her to pursue her current T32 postdoctoral fellowship with the Vermont Lung Center, studying metabolic dysregulation during cancer and its treatment under the suprvision of Dr. Michael Toth at the Uniersity of Vermont College of Medicine. Deena is open to work opportunities and seeks out opportunities to enhance her technical skills, scientific knowledge, and professional development that will lead to a successful career training the next generation of scientists and studying how nutritional and environmental factors affect energy metabolism and physiology.
