Barbara Lose is a registered dietitian, Professor of Health Sciences and Head of the Wegmans School of Health and Nutrition at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. In addition, she is the program director of the graduate program in Health and Well-being Management at RIT. Prior to being at RIT, she was a research professor at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA, a nutrition extension specialist the Kansas State University and associate professor and dietetic internship director at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She received a PhD in Nutritional Sciences and Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She teaches classes focused on nutrition education and behavior, nutrition and health research strategies, implementation and dissemination science, and health program development and evaluation. Dr. Lohse's research has focused on development and evaluation of nutrition education for low-income persons and for school-age youth, nutrition behavior instrument validation and psychometric testing especially related to eating competence and the Satter Division of Responsibility in Feeding. Currently she is the site PI in a multisite clinical randomized trial of a lifestyle management program to treat metabolic syndrome in adults and PI of a project that is disseminating online nutrition education across all ten New York fiscal regions.
