Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Jessica Smith is a rising first year Osteopathic Medical Student at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She recently completed her Master's of Science in Biomedical Sciences and Forensic Medicine at PCOM. Jessica is a Lead Student Research Assistant for the Department of Biomedical Sciences, where her focus surrounds health disparities of underrepresented diabetic patients living in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Maryland. In addition to her community based research, Jessica assists in a Cell Biology lab investigating the role of various nutritonal factors on fibroblast proliferation. Prior to her endeavors at PCOM, she attended the University of Scranton where she earned a Bachelor's of Science in Physiology and Spanish. While there, she expanded her passion for service to others through a socially immersive service trip to the Dominican Republic, and as Scribe Manager of an on-campus medical clinic for uninsured and underserved individuals. Jessica hopes to one day specialize as a physician in the fields of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, or Forensic Pathology.
