Julie Nevins is a Nutritionist with the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), in the Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP). She works with CNPP’s Nutrition Evidence Systematic Review (NESR) branch, conducting systematic reviews on diet- and health-related topics and advancing rigorous methodology for reviewing food and nutrition-related research. Her work focuses on diet during pregnancy and lactation; health outcomes during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, and childhood; and meta-analysis. She has supported the 2025 and 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committees and the 2021 update of the Thrifty Food Plan. Dr. Nevins completed her Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences and a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Maternal and Child Nutrition at Cornell University, where her research focused on the effect of micronutrient intake and status during pregnancy, lactation, and infancy on cognitive performance and development.
