Imani J. Carr is a doctoral student in the School of Nutrition and Food Sciences at Louisiana State University. Imani works with Dr. Georgianna Tuuri, to examine food preferences and develop and test nutrition and exercise interventions to promote healthy diets and active lifestyles. Imani believes community-based nutrition research improves individual’s knowledge and understanding and provides space to create policy and social change. Imani’s collaborative research efforts were recently highlighted with a publication in the Journal of Veterinary Medical Education titled “A Short, Evidence-Based Educational Pilot Program Improved Veterinary Medicine Students Self-Reported Food Literacy and Behaviors Toward Food.” Imani holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in Athletic Training from Houston Baptist University. Imani intends on receiving a PhD in Nutrition from Louisiana State University in May of 2023.
