Daniel Hoffman received his PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry and Physiology in 1999 from the Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy and completed post-doctoral training at Columbia University. Dr. Hoffman is a Professor of Nutritional Sciences at Rutgers University and Director of the Center for Childhood Nutrition Research at the New Jersey Institute for Food Nutrition, and Health. Dr. Hoffman's specific area of expertise is energy metabolism, body composition, and epidemiology and he directs an international nutrition research program to better understand the relationship between poor growth in childhood and the development of chronic diseases in adulthood in a number of countries including Brazil, Mexico, Kenya, and South Korea. An author of numerous papers and chapters on energy metabolism, body composition, and pediatric nutrition, Dr. Hoffman is also a consultant to UNICEF South Sudan, an Associate Editor of the Food and Nutrition Bulletin and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Nutrition.
