Andrea Glenn is a Registered Dietitian and Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto, working under the supervision of Dr. John Sievenpiper. Her Ph.D. projects include developing a Portfolio Diet score for use in epidemiological study designs, which she then applied to two international cohorts (PREDIMED-Plus and the Women’s Health Initiative) to assess the role of the Portfolio diet in cardiometabolic disease prevention. She has vast work experience in nutrition research (in clinical trials & epidemiology), teaching, and knowledge translation. Andrea’s specific interest and experience are in plant-based dietary patterns (including the Portfolio and vegetarian diets) and the glycemic index in the prevention and management of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
