I received my masters and PhD in Biology from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. My master’s degree research focus was on maize plant genetics studying chromosome dosage effects on maize plant morphology utilizing B-A chromosomes. My dissertation research focused on the morphology of recessive embryo specific mutants and protein expression during embryo development. In the Fall of 2021, I was awarded an ORISE Post-Doc fellowship to conduct research at the USDA Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center (GFHNRC). At the USDA-ARS GFHNRC, I have been studying anti-inflammatory effects of chokeberry as it relates to historical trauma of indigenous populations and the potential beneficial effects of chokeberry. Additionally, I recently published an article on the effects that a maternal high fat diet with vegetable substitution has on the fetal brain transcriptome.
