Shanvanth Rayal Arnipalli was a student-athlete on the fencing team and earned his bachelor’s in environmental science with a specialization in water science from The Ohio State University. His research interests and focuses are in biomedical human nutrition and developmental psychology. He worked with his mentor and advisor, Dr. Ouliana Ziouzenkova, on nutrigenomic studies of vitamin A metabolism and their implementation for the prevention and treatment of obesity, diabetes, and diabetes-related neurological complications. Their lab also worked to identify the therapeutic potential of nanomaterials, specifically amino acid-based compounds, on diabetes, obesity, cancer, and Alzheimer's Disease. With her mentorship and support, along with a powerhouse team, Arnipalli was able to co-author 5 publications, complete over 20 poster conferences, and secure several grants to supplement independent projects. He also worked in developmental psychology, with the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Meingold Hiu Ming Chan and Dr. Xin Feng, where he completed and defended his thesis on the maternal socialization goals in Hong Kong and U.S. Families shaped by the adoption of socialization goals and sources. Outside of research, Shanvanth is working to build three start-up ventures-two in the sustainable fashion and arts sector, and one in the physiotherapy wellness space-and since graduating in December 2022 he will be taking a gap year, before returning to his studies, in Taiwan to teach English through the support of Fulbright.
