Peiyuan is a Wellcome Trust-funded PhD student at the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit, University of Bristol, UK. His PhD research focuses on the relationship between maternal vegetarian/plant-based diets during pregnancy and perinatal health, utilising various causal inference (e.g., paternal negative control and cross-context comparison) and omics-based (e.g., epigenome- and metabolome-wide association analyses) approaches. During his PhD study, he also conducted two side projects – one used Mendelian randomisation to evaluate the impact of maternal coffee consumption on perinatal health, and the other one applied proteome-wide MR and multi-omic validation to facilitate drug discovery and repurposing for Alzheimer's disease. Before his PhD, he worked for the Born in Guangzhou Cohort Study in Guangzhou, China.
