Jayne Martin Carli, PhD, CLC, is a K99 postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Division of Reproductive Sciences) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus outside of Denver, CO. Her research is focused on utilizing the tools of molecular biology using human milk samples to define mechanisms underlying the impaired lactation seen in patients with obesity and diabetes. These efforts are supported by her doctoral training studying the molecular genetics of human adiposity at Columbia University Medical Center. This work will identify avenues for interventions which may increase milk supply, facilitating improvements in food security and cardiometabolic health across the lifespan for both mother and child.
