My studies focus on applied human performance research with the dual purposes of 1) enhancing the performance and health of athletes and military personnel and 2) translating findings to solve broader issues in human health. This scientific approach stems from a shared athletic and academic passion for endurance performance and personal experiences as a student-athlete and coach of long distance runners. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Pennington Biomedical Research Center and ORISE fellow at the US Army Research Institute for Environmental Medicine. I currently work on projects investigating the decline in iron status with frequent strenuous physical activity.
