Recently approved and anticipated medications for obesity treatment are producing much greater and more durable weight loss than previous behavioral and pharmacological approaches. Many patients are reporting dramatic reductions in appetite, hunger, and food cravings that enable sustained energy restriction and substantial weight loss. Given the effectiveness of these medications, many in the obesity research and treatment field are left wondering what – if any – role nutrition and other lifestyle-based interventions may have in this “new era” of obesity treatment. Please join the Obesity RIS Forum as we discuss this important topic with Dr. Ksenia Blinnikova, a practicing family medicine physician who regularly treats patients with obesity, Dr. Leah Whigham, Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Community Health Impact at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health, El Paso Campus, and Dr. Nikhil Dhurandhar, Professor, Helen Devitt Jones Endowed Chair, and Chair of the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Texas Tech University.
