Please join the Nutritional Microbiology GEM for an evening of in-person networking and learning. This year’s lecture will be provided by Dr. Patricia Wolf of Purdue University who will discuss nutrition equity, microbial metabolism and colorectal cancer disparities. The talk will review the current evidence supporting diet and microbial metabolism as a contributor to colorectal cancer disparities through bile acid-mediated mechanisms. These interrelationships will be put in the context of nutrition equity, which comprises systemic issues serving as barriers to maintaining a low-risk diet. Finally, new data examining microbial bile acid metabolism and dietary quality in the context of the neighborhood environment will be presented. Time will be available after the lecture to connect and network with microbiome-minded colleagues.
