Objectives: The role of vitamins and minerals as key contributors in the cellular processes needed for maintenance and optimal health and wellbeing, as well as promoters of academic performance and physical stamina in all stages of life, is well known.
The ability of measuring the vitamin and mineral reserves is beneficial not only for preventing deficiencies but also as a major help for reducing eventual toxicity.
Non-invasive qualitative methods of keeping track, or screening , for mineral and vitamin imbalances is thus an excellent tool in making this act as useful and handy possible, and a valuable help in educating the individuals and keeping them mindful and accountable whenever dietary behavioral changes are needed
Methods: Monitoring and/or screening for mineral and vitamin status ( for 26 parameters ) has been done using a non-invasive method based on the EAV/EDS principle ( by using VitaStiq 2 ), in 12 individuals ( 11F/1M ) with ages between 5 and 62 , and having no particular medical history
Results: The results appear labelled as RED( low), YELLOW ( mild ), GREEN ( good ) and BLUE ( high ) and though the precision of the method is stated to be around 80%, the quality of the results obtained shows to match the signs and symptoms of the particular deficiency experienced by the participants . In some cases are correlated well with previous blood test results (ex. Vit D - Red zone value 20 vs. 17ng/mL ( low ) , Omega 3 - Yellow zone value 30 vs. 4.1% ( intermediate ) . A regular diet supplying Vit.C appears expressed always in the green zone with values 50-75 , while , by eating salty, spicy chips , sodium appears in the Blue zone.
Conclusions: By using the EAV/EDS principle , correlations result vs. organ can be as well easily made which helps in the interpretation. The method shows its efficacy and it can easily add valuable nutrition and lifestyle information helping in the educative process of the individuals and their families , patterns of variation being well traced for particular dietary behavior in certain households . Further studies , on a larger number of individuals , in both men and women , and on a more extended age span is certainly needed and very useful for validation . Tracking this in children will be as well an excellent add especially related to academic performance and behavior
