(P19-055-23) Hyperlipidemia Among 529 School Children in Fangshan District, Beijing, China

Objectives: To study the prevalence of hyperlipidemia among students and explore factors related to hyperlipidemia.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional prevalence study in 529students aged 6 to 13 years old from 8 primary schools and 4 middle schools. The study was conducted from October to November 2019 in Fangshan District, Beijing, China. Total cholesterol(TC), triglycerides(TG), high density lipoprotrin-cholesterol(HDL-C), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C), glucose and uric acid levels were measured.

Results: The mean concentrations of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high density lipoprotrin-cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) were 4.19 ± 0.69mmol/L, 0.76± 0.42mmol/L, 1.45± 0.27mmol/L and 2.18± 0.56mmol/L, respectively. The overall prevalence of hyperlipidemia (TC level ≥ 5.18mmol/L or TG level ≥ 1.70mmol/L or LDL-C level ≥ 3.37 mmol/L or HDL-C level < 1.04 mmol/L ) was 14.18%. The prevalence of hyperlipidemia of boys was 14.55%, and 13.78% for girls. The prevalence of hyperlipidemia of students with normal body weight was 8.80%, and the rates for overweight and obesity students were 17.57% and 28.07%, respectively. The prevalence of hyperlipidemia of students with normal uric acid and hyperuricemia were 12.80% and 32.43%, respectively. Logistic regression showed that hyperlipidemia was worse in students with high BMI and hyperuricemia.

Conclusions: The prevalence of hyperlipidemia among students was high, especially among students with high BMI and who had hyperuricemia, interventions for high-risk students should be taken.
