The Department of Applied Health Science is committed to preventing disease and promoting the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. Our award-winning faculty makes important contributions to the world's pressing health concerns , from drug and alcohol addiction treatment to workplace safety to the development of children and adolescents.
Our values are reflected through our research, teaching, and service. Faculty and students have spearheaded vital projects that strengthen health education globally, and promote the prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases in rural America.
We have nine laboratories, centers, and institutes, including lab facilities dedicated to applied behavior research, industrial hygiene, and nutrition science. Our centers and institutes investigate health disparities, sexual health promotion, addictive behavior, and behavioral wellness.
